OPTIONS

Being involved in a family law matter can be difficult and confusing. Knowing your options is important. As a mediator, I serve as a neutral assisting the parties in reaching an agreement. The parties can participate in the mediation conferences with or without attorneys. However, it is always advisable to consult an attorney as to one's legal rights.

As an attorney, I serve to represent you as your advocate, in a:

  • Collaborative divorce;
  • Cooperative divorce; and/or
  • Litigated divorce

Please call my office so I can help you decide which option may be right for you.

What is MEDIATION?

Mediation is a dispute resolution process that allows people to settle their cases. To be exact, it is defined in Section 44.1011, Florida Statutes, as follows:

"Mediation" means a process whereby a neutral third person called a mediator acts to encourage and facilitate the resolution of a dispute between two or more parties. It is an informal and nonadversarial process with the objective of helping the disputing parties reach a mutually acceptable and voluntary agreement. In mediation, decision making authority rests with the parties. The role of the mediator includes, but is not limited to, assisting the parties in identifying issues, fostering joint problem solving, and exploring settlement alternatives.

The goal of family mediation is a signed, written agreement. I am a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Civil and Family Mediator, committed to mediation as a constructive, effective, and efficient process.

Please contact me for more information and to schedule an initial mediation conference.

What is COLLABORATIVE FAMILY LAW?

Collaborative Family Law is a dispute resolution process that allows people to resolve a dispute constructively and respectfully, with each person represented by his and her own Collaborative Family Law attorney, usually even before a case is filed in Court. I would be retained by you as your Collaborative Family Law attorney. The other party would also retain a Collaborative Family Law attorney. Other collaboratively trained experts, such as mental health and financial professionals, can also be engaged to help settle the case. The Miami practice group can be found at www.collaborativefamlaw.com.

Visit my Practice Area page for additional areas of my practice.
